July with Rebellious Unicorns!

Voices Unheard

Premieres July 14 • 5:30pm

Launching this coming Tuesday (Jul 14), Voices Unheard is a weekly series designed to elevate voices and bring greater awareness to underrepresented members of society, including people of various racial backgrounds, sexuality, gender identity/expression, age, and ability. Voices Unheard is produced by Rebellious Unicorns Production Company Inc. and airs on  Unicorns.LIVE in partnership with Kelowna Pride Society.

Host Jessica Samuels will engage a different guest each week in a candid conversation about the challenges they have faced or continue to struggle with, giving them a space to share their experiences and helping them to tell their stories.

Voices Unheard will be available via live stream at Unicorns.LIVE. Episodes will be available to stream for Unicorns.LIVE subscribers after the live broadcast.

Kelowna’s Dustin Dufault will join Jessica Samuels for the first episode. Dufault grew up in the Kaska First Nation in Northern British Columbia and Southeastern Yukon but has lived in Kelowna for over 10 years now. Dustin will share his experience of being an indigenous, two-spirit drag artist and finding his way in the world.

A Sip With Sparkle: Episode 4-Sangria

July 20 • 6:00pm

Summer is in full swing, and Sparkle’s got her swizzle sticks out stirring up one of the sexiest cocktails ever: SANGRIA! On Monday, July 20, 2020 Sparkle spills the tea (and probably a lot of alcohol, per usual) on this sultry Spanish summer sipper, and will be joined by special guest Ella Lamoureux.

Save the date and say “Olé!” for A Sip With SparkleMonday July 20, 2020 live at 6:00pm only on Unicorns.LIVE! Sangria Night was previously scheduled for July 7 but was postponed due to a dental emergency.

About ‘A Sip With Sparkle!’

She twinkles, she glistens, she sparkles…and she’s the Okanagan’s cocktail queen! Join the glimmering drag star Sparkle for A Sip with Sparkle, as she concocts a bevy of beverages live on the interwebs. Known for her energy, charisma, sassy wit, and fabulous blonde hair, Sparkle serves up a delicious combination of glamour, alcohol, and witty repartee. With locally sourced ingredients and step-by-step instruction on how to create these luscious libations, you’ll be sipping (and, perhaps, snort-laughing) your way through each episode. Sounds fabulous, nest-ce pas?

The MX. Returns

July 23 • 5:30pm

Guess what? The original MX. is back on Thursday, July 23, 2020! We’re keeping it social and keeping it safe, and we’re thrilled to invite you to join us at Dunnenzie’s in the Lower Mission from 5:30-7:30 pm. Physical distancing measures will be in place -- we’re ‘MXing’ it up a bit this time with creative ways for everyone to get a chance to meet and make new connections.

The MX. was created as an opportunity for the LGBT2Q+ community to network, gather and socialize. This is also an opportunity to meet like minded people outside of the club and off the those lovely apps. Allies are encouraged to join.

In addition to meeting super fab people the MX. also fundraises for the Etcetera Youth Group and 100% of the entrance fee will be donated to them. Space is available on a first come first serve basis. Please register in advance so that we can let Dunnenzie’s know how much food should be prepared for our guests. Suggested donation for admission is $10 (or $5 for students (19+) with valid student ID).

If you’re planning on joining us, we hope you’ll reach out to some of your friends and work colleagues and consider carpooling. Parking at this location can be challenging, and keep in mind that they will be open to the public as well.

The MX. is presented by TD Bank, and proudly supported by Okanagan Young Professionals, Sarah Sucloy Real Estate, Friends of Dorothy and EzTix.
